International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction : Workshop on basic Safety Measures and Preparedness Techniques

Introduction and Overview
Gujrat: October 12, 2024 – Huqooq-ul-Ebad Development Foundation organized a special workshop at Faisal Hotel, Gujrat, on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. The purpose of this workshop was to raise awareness among the public and discuss preventive measures to minimize disaster-related losses. A total of 32 participants including 3 females participated the workshop.
The workshop was inaugurated by the President of the Foundation, Syed Muhammad Ashfaq, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the Foundation and the importance of reducing disaster risks. He emphasized that awareness and precautionary measures are crucial in minimizing the impacts of disasters.
Ashfaq Ahmed, Research and Planning Consultant, provided training to the audience. He provided important facts and highlighted the importance of planning and research in disaster prevention. He discussed various Safety measures and preparedness techniques. He stated that every individual in the community should be involved in this process to collectively build a safer society.In conclusion, Syed Muhammad Ashfaq thanked all the participants and stressed the need to change our behaviors and lifestyle to tackle climate change effectively.
The Foundation’s Vice President, Touseef Ahmed, spoke about strategies to tackle disasters and mentioned the efforts of the Foundation in supporting local communities.
Saman Ejaz, Deputy Director of Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, in her speech, discussed the government’s initiatives to reduce disaster risks and stressed that disaster prevention is not possible without public cooperation at the local level.
The workshop was also attended by Z.A. Bhatti, Media Coordinator, Mrs. Tehmina (Women Wing), and Mubashir Ahmed (Social Welfare Officer), who shared their views on disaster risk reduction.
At the end of the workshop, participants emphasized the need for more training and awareness programs to ensure that precautionary measures are adopted at every level. The event was covered in local newspapers and social media.
